Reflections from the Creator, Coach and Captain of Resilience RFC - Donatien Ufitimfura
Good beginning makes good end.
Resilience Rusizi RFC's family members are very happy due to the accomplishments of 2016 and are looking forward to 2017.
Rugby was unknown to many people before 2014, from the beginning of Rusizi rugby introduced by Glyn Watkins & Mary Watkins in TTC Mururu and then continued by the UK based charity Friends of Rwandan rugby.
We got the spirit and skills about rugby which led to the establishment of Club - Resilience RFC which was founded in June 2015.
Then in 2016 Resilience attended national league and progressed - unbeaten -all the way to the final where we were runners up after being beaten by Thousands Hills.
We were lucky to attend 7's Genocide memorial tournament where we lost 2 matches and won 2 matches against some very stiff opposition.
In August 2016 we attended 7's Thousands Hills festival 1st edition where we lost 2 matches and won 2 matches.
We started from nothing and now more than 40 people have played rugby for Resilience, more than 60 kids played rugby in the junior section of Resilience and more than 250 pupils & 20 TTC Mururu learners played rugby after being coached by Friends of Rwandan Rugby in August (2016 FORR trip in Rusizi )
This shows that we are a very large family of rugby men (and women) in Rusizi.
Actually we have reached beyond the wildest dreams, we will play rugby forever at all and we are very proud of Rusizi rugby and much thanks must go to all who have contributed so much to make such quick development of rugby in Rusizi.
Glyn Watkins , Mary Watkins , Friends of Rwandan Rugby, Rwanda Rugby Federation, Welsh rugby, Oakdale RFC , Bedlinog RFC, Caldicot RFC, Ron Mudger and the Air Crew association who paid for our transport to a match, Alun Shurmer who sponsored a game, Resilience's committee and supporters, the Media - The New Times , RC Rusizi, BBC sport - you can find an article about us here

our fans, our players' commitment , persistence & initiative , local leaders, Thousands Hills RFC, and the rugby global family.
We wish you Happy New year of 2017 and we look forward to sharing our successes in 2017.
